In the world of shoes, some women prefer heels, while others prefer flats. As much as I adore, long for, and admire designer heels, I almost always choose to wear flats for everyday wear. Heels often just don’t cut it when I’m running from one commitment to the next or going to an event directly from the office. I love sporting my favourite pumps for special events, but at the end of a busy day full of meetings and errand running, my feet are always thankful.
I would like to clarify one thing though: flats don’t have to be boring. I’m always looking for a comfortable pair of statement shoes, which is why the Loeffler Randall Prue d’Orsay Flat ($225) is this week’s Weekly Want. A cross between a loafer and a d’Orsay flat (a shoe style that exposes the arch), they are anything but boring. The Prue is available in a feather printed haircalf or lynx pattern, and comes with a leather sole – wait for it – with a non-slip finish. As someone who has taken numerous spills on the street, my pride thanks you, Loeffler Randall.
The delicate prints lend themselves nicely to print mixing, so I would pair these with plenty of colour, print, or pattern. They would look great with everything from a feminine voluminous skirt to denim shorts, and can easily take you from desk to dinner table (without falling on your way there).
