Change can be good. On August 1, 2014 NARS will launch a newly reformulated nail polish collection, featuring an upgraded formula that focuses on a flexible high gloss finish, a newly designed lid, and a wide application brush. The new collection will include 19 new lacquer colours and 23 reformulated fan-favourites, with select colours available exclusively at Holt Renfrew.
I got a sneak peek of some of the new collection, and I must admit, I’m a big fan. This is my first time using NARS nail polish, so I can’t compare it to the previous formula, but I can compare it to the 160 polishes I currently own (kind of embarrassing, I know) and use on a weekly basis. The wide brush cuts down application time and makes the three stroke method (one in the middle of the nail and then two on each side) actually possible when you’re doing your own nails. The brush bristles are much thicker than the average nail polish brush and don’t fan out as you apply the polish, making it easy to make clean precision touch-ups and strokes.
The new collection features a number of unique shades like Delos (copper brown infused with gold) and Endless Night (black grape), but also includes classic colours like Jungle Red (bright red) and Thasos (mint green). Since pink is my favourite nail colour, I tested out Schiap (shocking pink) on my nails, and am really pleased with the results. The creamy, glossy formula is super-thick, and I only needed to apply one coat of colour to get the shiny, opaque look that I’m always after. NARS, you’ve nailed it.
NARS’ new nail lacquers ($23 each) are available in Canada August 1, 2014 at select NARS retailers (including Sephora, Hudson’s Bay, Holt Renfrew, and Murale) and www.narscosmetics.com.
