A few things I’m currently loving in relation to this outfit:
1. The J.Crew Sale Section When It’s An Additional 50% Off – While I really don’t think this needs anymore explanation, I scored this neon pencil skirt for just $16 – with tax. I had to hide my excitement as I cashed out because I was worried the cashier would be afraid of me if I started screaming “Start the car!”
2. Customizable Jewellery – I’ll be the first to admit that I’m a writer, not a designer, but sometimes it’s fun to pretend. The folks at Jewlr let me design a custom pendant by allowing me to choose the style, initials, metal, chain length, and size of my monogram necklace. The process is ridiculously easy; you get a live preview of your design as you customize it, so what you see is what arrives at your doorstep (and you don’t have to pay for shipping).
3. Mixing Casual And Classy Items – Sometimes I love mixing items that have no business being together…or so you would think. I paired one of my go-to beach day tanks (which now permanently smells like sunscreen no matter how many times I wash it) with my $16 pencil skirt (did I tell you I got a pencil skirt for $16?) to create the sartorial equivalent of a mullet: business on the bottom, party on top. In all seriousness, I love this look; it’s chic, but a little undone in the best way possible.
4. Sensible Shoes – My mother is going to take pure delight in this one; I can practically hear the phone ringing already. She has always questioned my shoes that pinch, cut, and squeeze my feet, but I insist on wearing in the name of fashion. Well mom, you were right; after acquiring a good pair of sensible, stylish shoes, I have to question my past footwear choices too. These Zara sandals are both sensible (less than a two-inch chunky heel) and stylish (does it really get any better than gold Velcro ankle straps?); they create a happy medium for me, my feet, and my mom.
