Anyway – back to business. Today, as from the name, I will be reviewing NARS’ Orgasm blush, which I have stated is one of my Top 5 favorites.

There are many dupes to this, the most popular one being Sleek’s Rose Gold Blush (above), which you can find here on Luxola or at one of Scape’s Underground shops for about SGD $14.

However, some argue there is just nothing like the real thing; and they may just very well be right!

I haven’t had a chance to try out the dupe yet, though I just might one day, but the Orgasm blush has really left quite an impact on me and I’ll tell you why.

First, let’s talk about the packaging.

It is so sleek and sophisticated. From the typography, to the color scheme, to its minimalism (sorry, graphic designer mode on right now.)

I adore it. However, I have heard people complain about how it is slightly rubberized and can actually melt (!?). Perhaps that is the old packaging, because this one does seem more plastic in some sense, and mine so far has not encountered any such misfortune.

It sits very nicely in my palm, about 6-7cm long, and about 1-2cm in height. Good for taking on the go.

Now let’s have a good look at the inside.

There is a mirror, which is convenient, but there is no brush. For some, this is an issue, but for me I am fine because I do not take this out.

If you do not have an extra brush ready in your cosmetic pouch, you can always use your fingers (wash them first!) to spread them onto your cheeks. I’ve tried it before and it works fine, though of course some powder will linger on your fingers.

As you can see, there is a gold sheen to this rose-coral blush. It does not play off in a very obvious manner, meaning to say that it appears more as a light see-through layer rather than a huge chunk of gold flecks.

Side note: This powder will last you FOREVER. If you want bang in your buck, this is it. I’ve had it since about august and it has not budged even a little.

I apply mine with this Sigma F82 Round Kabuki Brush (which can be bought here). The brush is good despite the reasonable pricing. The bristles are soft and yet very firm. They hardly drop off, and I’ve had them for about 3 months. I clean them every once a week, or even more often.

What I do is locate the “apples of my cheeks”, basically for me it’s just my cheek area around the cheek bones, and buff it into my skin a few times until that “blush streak” fades off. The effect is quite subtle but very beautiful. I love how it saves me from my usual I-go-to-art-school-and-look-like-the-walking-dead face.

I mentioned before that the lasting power is not that great, which is the only real down-side to this, but you can always do one touch up when you go out and that should be sufficient.

And… as usual, here’s my look with the Nars Orgasm Blush! What do you think? 😉

Overall Rating: 8.5/10 (would be more if it lasted better)

Stockists: NARS Orgasm is retailing in Singapore at TANGS for about SGD $50. If you are travelling to Hong Kong (which is where I purchased mine), it is about $44.

Have a wonderful weekend!
