In my personal life, I’m not easily swayed by weekly skincare masks, a must-have serum, or the latest gadget to hit store shelves. Luckily for me and my “if it ain’t broke, don’t fix it” mentality, as a writer, I’m often exposed to products and brands that I may not have otherwise discovered.
Occasionally, I come across something that blows me away and it finds a permanent spot in my beauty routine. These are products that I spend my own money on long after my samples run out, and I share my love for them with my friends, family, and now you – here are my latest pretty picks.
1. L’Occitane Lavender Hand Cream, $23 (75 mL) – Lavender is one of my favourite scents, so it’s no surprise that this hand cream has found a permanent home in my purse. Enriched with Shea butter and lavender essential oil from Haute-Provence, this lightweight cream has a soothing scent and offers instant lavender-induced relaxation wherever I go.
2. Kiehl’s Creme de Corps, $12.50 (75mL) – This all-over body moisturizer has a lightweight, creamy formula, making it my go-to after-shower moisturizer. It quickly absorbs into the skin without leaving a greasy residue, and has a subtle scent that isn’t too overpowering.
3. SkinCeuticals AOX + Eye Gel, $80 (15ml) – One of the first places that starts to show the consequences of late night writing sessions and early morning meetings are my eyes. SkinCeuticals AOX + Eye Gel contains a synergistic antioxidant combination of phloretin, L-ascorbic acid, and ferulic acid to prevent signs of aging, revive under eye skin, reduce the appearance of puffiness and under-eye bags, fight free radicals, and correct existing photodamage like fine lines and wrinkles. This is a product that works as hard as I do.
4. Body Shop Organic Cotton Rounds, $3 for 100 – Once you try these cotton rounds, you’ll never want to go back to the budget variety. Soft, sturdy, and absorbent, the Body Shop’s cotton rounds feature both a textured side and a smooth side, and won’t leave fluff behind.
