If you’re a vintage lover, and I mean a true vintage lover, you need to know about the Mintage $5 bag sale. For just $5, you get to participate in a vintage free-for-all, and fill a bag with any of their sale product. It’s a chaotic cloud of vintage shoppers, but of course, it’s also really fun.  Their sales happen periodically, so keep an eye on their website for upcoming dates.

I attended their summer sale and one of my purchases in my big bag of goodies was this magenta shirt dress.  Although it was unflattering, over-sized, and shapeless, I knew it had potential. Before I went to work on it, I snapped a few photos, which are unflattering to say the least.

It took me a while to get to, but I shortened the dress, rolled up the sleeves, and added a belt; the result is a perfect fall dress that no one else will have.  I got about 20 items that day, which means I spent about 25 cents on my new magenta dress. If that’s not a thrift store score, I don’t know what is.
